East Branch Pecatonica River Restoration Observatory

About the observatory

Spearheaded by the Hydroecology Lab in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, we have assembled a multidisciplinary team of faculty and students from a wide variety of disciplines including hydrology, ecology, geology, geomorphology, biogeochemistry, and engineering.  We are collaborating to investigate the complex and dynamic processes that create vital ecosystem services in a watershed-stream-floodplain ecosystem in the headwaters of a Driftless Area stream in southwestern Wisconsin in order to evaluate and guide regional land management and restoration practices.
